Project Title :

  • Tribal women managed horticulture programme for the Sustainable Income among Tribal in the tribal district of Dahod.

Project Objective :

  • The overall objective of the project is improved socio economic status of the tribal's with sustainable income bringing the empowerment among tribal women by development of natural resources through sustainable horticulture, floriculture development and institution building.

Project Area :

  • 40 villages of Jhalod, Dahod & Garbada taluka of Dahod District.

Total Project Cost :

  • Total Project Cost – Rs. 2,68,03,500; JFPR Grant – Rs. 1,54,43,500

Project Duration :

  • Two Year.

Targeted Beneficiaries
(No of BPL families, other households, tribals etc)

  • 2000 families from 40 villages.

Project Outputs And Monitorable Indicators :

  • At the end of the project period, production would be worth Rs. 250 Lakhs and there would be enhancement of the income level of household due to use of drip irrigation in horticulture & floriculture activites.  40 tribal women horticulture association & 80 women SHGs would be formed.

Key Implementation Activities :

  • 2000 Fruit Orchards of half an acre land.
  • 2000 vegetable plots of half an acre each.
  • 1000 floriculture plots .
  • 300 plots of drip irrigation systems for horticulture, vegetables and floriculture half an acre plot
  • Well Development  - 900
  • 500 Vermiculture plots of 10 x 10 x 3 feet
  • Setting up of 40 Horticulture Associations & 80 SHGs

Implementation Arrangements And Partnerships :

  • Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) and tribal women horticulture association would be formed at Village level.
  • District administration would be linked up with concurrent monitoring & evaluation of the project.
  • Zilla Panchayat would fund majority of the project component from their ongoing Rasthriya Shram Vikas Yojana.
  • Bank would participate in the project implementation by extending loan to the tribal households.

WHY THIS PROJECT CANNOT BE FUNDED FROM THE ONGOING GOVERNMENT OF GUJARAT’S PROGRAMS?

  • The combination of package like horticulture, floriculture, vegetables, drip irrigation, training & village institution building is not funded by single department.  If different departments are approached and funds are not tied up,  then it would adversely affect the progress and results.
