Kutch Drought Proofing Programme

• To reduce the dependency of village communities on drought relief work and relief subsidies;
• To demonstrate the viability of short-term and long-term employment through drought-proofing activities;
• To ensure drinking water, food and fodder security even in drought years;
• To make traditional activities such as animal husbandry and dry-land farming economically viable; and
• To ensure active participation of women and vulnerable familie in planning the drought proofing activities.
